Friendship, community and group exercise for cancer patients

What an incredibly special weekend!

Two days of hiking about in the mountains with a bunch of other cancer patients. Possibly not everyone’s idea of fun but I am a very lucky girl.

I am Inspired. In awe.

The power of nature, solitude, solidarity, exercise, healthy food, laughter, deconmecting from life.

We shared stories, listened, supported, understood, in a way that goes deeper than with even the closest family.

We walked together.

Spoken words.

Unspoken words.

My legs are sore.

My face is burnt.

As a foreigner, I was welcomed with open arms.

I learnt a lot of French!

If I’m honest, I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy it. I wondered about the age demographic, fitness levels, cultural differences, missing my family. But I shouldn’t have. It was a truly wonderful experience!

So if you’re a cancer survivor who isn’t sure about joining a support group. Just do it.
